Hello all, was just wondering what layer four port numbers I should memorize for the CCENT?
I have a list that I have compiled with the associated layer four service, TCP/UDP. If I miss any let me know.
TCP:
21 -FTP
22 -SSH
23 -TELNET
25 -SMTP
53 -DNS SERVER
80 -HTTP
110 -POP3
443 -HTTPS
UDP:
53 -DNS CLIENT
69 -TFTP
IS the list complete of does Cisco expect you to know more for the CCENT?

You can review the more popular ports here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_TCP_and_UDP_port_numbers
Take note of the ones you've seen mentioned and are familiar with. -

LBC90805 Member Posts: 247Thanks for the link. I have pretty much mastered that little quiz, however I did notice that it was for the Network+ exam. Within the Odom ICND1 book it does not list that many ports. Guess you can't know too many ports ultimately!

Jammywanks Member Posts: 127I think you got most of them down. Keep in mind there are thousands of more ports for all sorts of applications, but the most basic ones are the ports in the double/triple digits. The scope of the CCNA should only cover those.
Keep in mind that when creating access lists you can use 'www' for port 80, and so on so sometimes you can get by not knowing the port number but the name of the service instead.CCNA Lab: Two 1720's, one 2520, two 2924XL switches

Errors in your CCNA text book? Never mind, the authors don't care.
