    Select your switch model
    IOS Software
Lastest has a couple LRE options and 2 regular options
    C2900 IOS IMAGE
    c2900xl-c3h2s-mz.120-5.WC17.bin
    Release Date: 10/Apr/2007
    C2900 IOS IMAGE
    Size: 1769.44 KB
    Minimum Memory: DRAM:8MB Flash:4MB

C2900 IOS IMAGE AND CMS FILES
    c2900xl-c3h2s-tar.120-5.WC17.tar
    Release Date: 10/Apr/2007
C2900 IOS IMAGE AND CMS FILES
    Size: 2878 KB
    Minimum Memory: DRAM:8MB Flash:4MB

I was already logged in with my guest level login and it let me download.

The reason we usually suggest the 2924-XL-EN is because it has the DRAM and FLASH to run the last of the 2900-XL images. If your 2924 doesn't have the DRAM or FLASH required then you're stuck with what you have.

    got it thanks.

    new problem..

sorry to bug all, i really am, but i would like to learn.
tried a search, didnt really find my answer.

    i have a 2924 xl switch (not xl-en)

    and under config)#
there only on vtp command, and that is vtp - file

i am tryin to set this device as a client, it is currently a server, and does reciever vtp info about vlans, but i want it to be a client, since it is not my core switch..

    anyways.

so i try vlan database, good... i can set it up client mode, but then when i type apply, it says cant apply becuase im in client mode.
haha. so well how am i going to get this switch into client mode???

    any suggestions.

You can't do an apply because a VTP client gets its config from a VTP server - you're not allowed to modify it

Have you set up one of your 2950's as a VTP server? If so, make sure the 2924 has the same VTP domain name as the VTP server.

    Set the name with:

    vlan database
vtp domain (put the name here)
    exit

    exit will do an auto-apply

If you don't have (or don't want) a VTP server in your lab, then set all the switches to transparent mode.

Oh, and don't worry about the IOS version for RSTP

There are no models of the 2924 that support RSTP, no matter what IOS you have
