Passed ICND1/CCENT with 896

Just got back to work after testing for the CCENT exam. Passed first time out with an 896 out of 1000. Still had about 20 minutes left after clicking that last next button. Was very scared to do so, closed my eyes waiting for the test to grade itself. Was more than happy with the outcome. Only thing I didn't like was not haveing access to all the commands during one of the simlets. Only got a 73% on implementing small networks, I know I'm better than that score. Oh well, don't matter now that I have passed.

Next thing to do is to take a few days off before I crack that other Odom book, the ICND2 book. Hope to be full CCNA by mid July, though I can probably get'er done before then.

Well I only preparred by using the ICND1 Odom book and CBT Nuggets. I did not use any other resources besides using Packet Tracer to get familiar with commands and setting things up.

Can I go back and check the questions I missed? I would like to review where I messed up.

    Congrats on the pass!

You might want to get a lab going for the second test. For what those nugget videos cost, you could get a real lab going.

    Good luck with your studies!

Congrats man, this gives me a lot of confidence to take mine in June. I'm studying Odoms ICND1 book as well as using Packet Tracer. Good luck on the next test! Do you work somewhere where you get to configure Cisco products?

Well I've been working with and on computers since I was a young lad, commodore 64 days. I have been studying networking since I was at Cal State Bakersfield in 1999. Just finally got around to studying for the test after just loafing around for the past odd years. At work, desktop support for AT&T, there is a lot of time to just twidle my thumbs since the job is primarily reactionary. Waiting for things to break or go wrong so in my down time I've just been studying the Odom ICND1 book and watching the CBT Nugget ICND1 videos. I had a lot of networking knowledge prior to studying for Cisco, just had no experiance with Cisco IOS and working with their equipment. Though I was very aware of the foundation topics and how internetworks worked in general.

LBC90805, how long did you study for the ICND1 ? (months)

I signed up to take mine at the end of July, and I am using the Sybex book on 640-822 (Lammle) and am just finished with subnetting chapter 3. I haven't had the need to use Packet Tracker yet.

Where is the best place to buy or what is the price of Packet Tracker ?

    Thanks.

I got the official Exam Certification guide on Christmas Day 2007. So been studying since then. Though there were some gaps in my study time. An odd week here and there where I did not study at all. I was studying pretty hard there near the end, for what that is worth.
