Has anyone got a wonderfull proxy server that didnt cost a single pence?

Does anyone reccomend Squid?

Windows based or linux based, which is better/easier to admin

Any info would be great

I'll recommend squid-proxy 100%. Easy to set up on both windows and linux, though probably a bit easier under linux since you can find it already packaged properly in your distro most likely. I had no real pains setting it up under windows though and it is easy to administer if you aren't afraid of config file tweaking. And it is possible to integrate it with AD authentication.
