Passed!
I just took the Security+ this morning and passed with an 865/900.
I only studied for a week, but I have some security background and have read quite a few books on security and cryptography so I felt well-prepared. The test was a little scary. Some of the questions are badly worded and I think they invented some of the terms that they used. Still, if you know the material, you can get by with some educated guessing.
I studied using the TechNotes and reviewed some material from the Exam Cram book. The Exam Cram book is okay, but there are some errors. I also took the practice tests on this site and the PrepLogic practice exam that came with the Exam Cram book.
For anyone having trouble with encryption and protocols, I'd recommend Network Security: Private Communication in a Public World by Charlie Kaufman, et al. For network security in general, I recommend Inside Network Perimeter Security by Stephen Northcutt et al. Other than that, a little experience goes a long way.
CCNA is next, then MCSA: Security.
Good luck to the rest of you in your endeavors.

If you took the same exam that I did two months ago, you probably noticed how skewed it was. I wish they asked more broad questions and more evenly spread out, since the objectives are such.----
