1. Tom creates a folder named Data and shares it for use for a group called Sales, and wants the members of the Sales group to only be able to write files to the folder. What share and NTFS permissions to the Sales group?
(This is actually a question that's an exhibit and you got to configure the exhibit box).
The given answer is:
Share permissions for Sales: Change
NTFS permissions for Sales: Deny Modify.
2. You are the network administrator for your company. The network consists of a single Active Directory domain named bigfirm.com. All servers run Windows Server 2003. All users log on to the domain to access resources. All files and folders are stored on a member server named FS. You need to configure permissions for a folder named Data. You must ensure that authenticated users cannot create new files directly in Data. This restriction must not affect any other
permissions set on Data, on the contents of its subfolders, or on its existing files. Users must still be able to modify files in Data.
Given answer is: Allow - Read Extended Attributes
Someone please explain these answers to me.

45 views and no reply from techexams users... That's another apart from the given answers to the questions. -
astorrs Member Posts: 3,139 ■■■■■■□□□□For both are there already some permissions share/ntfs and if so what are they?
Neither makes any sense to me as its worded. -
Essendon Member Posts: 4,546 ■■■■■■■■■■Andrew, both questions are worded as they are in the practice exams. Thats all there was in the questions. I have just copied them across. Poorly worded and answer choices are just absurd, makes my head spin
-
astorrs Member Posts: 3,139 ■■■■■■□□□□The answer for #1 doesn't make any sense as it will deny them the ability to do anything with the files.
The answer for #2 is equally crap.
Sorry, but I'm going to have to go with someone forked these up - unless anyone else here can figure out what the heck they were trying to get across with those questions that were obviously translated into English from their original Sanskrit. -

Huh?
I am finding MeasureUp the biggest heap of crap I have ever seen. Stupid answer choices...
There was one SUS question in which you had to configure misconfigured clients that were not getting their updates from the SUS server. Two of its answer choices were:
a). Ask Microsoft to post the updates to you in the mail. ....!!!!
b). Ask Microsoft to stop sending you updates altogether...!!!!
I had a hearty laugh when I read these
My advice to all, PUT the MeasureUp cd in the bin and preferably break it into a few pieces so that even you change your mind, you wouldnt be able to use it again. -

Huh?
It was a joke. The question was so poorly worded I was implying that they had originally written it in Sanskrit (a dead language) and then translated it into English; how else could they have come up with something so confusing? -

Here's another MeasureUp question's answer choices to a question asking you to configure groups and user accounts:
a). Ask the user to go to a different company that will allow them into the universal group.
b). Advise user that this just cannot be done.
When you read these questions and their answer choices, you go WTF?? Plain absurd.
P.S. I am not ranting against MeasureUp, just letting people know not to use these tests as their practice tests, as they are going to cause confusion and possibly a below 700 score on the real test. -
astorrs Member Posts: 3,139 ■■■■■■□□□□Yeah I remember reading that post. Why MeasureUp is still an "official" practice test provider we'll never know...

I much prefer Self Test Software (Transcender just re-brands STS tests), they've been doing Microsoft prep since the mid 90's and I find most of the questions are actually decent enough (some exams are better than others mind you). -
sprkymrk Member Posts: 4,884 ■■■□□□□□□□b). Advise user that this just cannot be done.
I use this answer daily.
User: Hey sprky, can we...
sprky: (interrupts) No, this cannot be done.
User: But I was just wanting to...
sprky: Sorry, it can't be done, period.
User: But you didn't even...
sprky: (worries coffee is getting cold) Thank you for calling.
(Hangs up, pleased that coffee is still hot, thinks about getting donut from break room). All things are possible, only believe. -
Essendon Member Posts: 4,546 ■■■■■■■■■■That was a good one, Mark. Glad there's some humor around in this bog of certifications!

Though I'll confess it is because I saw the e-mail over her shoulder before she started talking so I did have definite grounds for dismissing.Jumping on the IT blogging band wagon -- http://www.jefferyland.com/ -

A few months old. It's not just me finding such stupid questions and answers. Many users on this forum have seen such idiotic questions.
Give it a few more days and you should have a few of these pop up and you will be like and -
