    for the MCSA:

    for the MCSE:

The best elective to use is the security+ which counts towards both, but you have to choose one more elective for the MCSE.

Wow that was uncalled for. That is the exam #, it's a CompTIA exam that Microsoft gives credit for.

Thanks astorrs for the defense. All it takes is a little research on google.com or the comptia website for that matter.

so on microsoft website it listed u need to take 4 exams. so the security + will count as an elective? so all i need to take is the 70-270, 70-290, 70-291 and security + and voila...i'm mcsa?

Just to clarify a bit more.... you need to make sure you register your Security+ with Microsoft (after you pass security+ AND at least 1 Microsoft test). IE, you need your CompTia ID number AND your MCP number. If you just take the security+ test and all other tests and do nothing, the security+ won't get registered with Microsoft and you will be waiting a long time.

how do u do this? is there a # or website to log into? right now i'm creating an account to take the mcsa test thru prometric website. after i pass a test or more..what do i do?

    1) You need to pass a CompTIA exam first to get a CompTIA ID number. Then you can create a new account with CompTIA. (at least I think you need to pass a test first)...After you pass the test, CompTIA sends you an email with how to login and such....

    2) You also need to pass a Microsoft exam and get your MCP number. Then create a login with microsoft. After you pass your test, Microsoft also sends you an email on how to login and create your account.

3)Then follow the instructions in the link below.

But for now, I'd just concentrate on passing your exams.
