Depends on the games of course, but my old laptop by specs out performed my desktop but was unable to play Half Life 2 ( on lowest settings and forced DX 7) because of the Graphics. Yet my Desktop played no problem on highest settings.
I would look for a laptop with a dedicated Graphics.
for$650 I got a Dell Vostro 1500
Intel Core 2 Duo T5270 (1.4GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache)
15.4 inch Wide Screen XGA LCD Display
2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz, 2 DIMM
256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
I paid an extra $50 to go from the 128M Graphics card to the 256.
Just something to think about -

I think u are right. Games have gone beyond Half life requirements....i guess this graphix card would b no good -
hypnotoad Banned Posts: 915I like to buy a dedicated graphics card just because it takes load off the RAM and free's up that bandwidth.
Am I being silly? -
Talic Member Posts: 423The X3100 in my T61 is useless for any newer 3D game except for Sins of the Solar Empire, you can forget TF2 or the newer Source based games, they run like a slideshow and crash.
I'd probably save a bit up and go with a 8600 and cut it down to 2GB of ram.
