I tried searching for this,
What is the difference between the 2? Someone has 1 listed on Craigslist with a header of 2500 series 2520, but then in the ad it says a 2505 a few times?
* - Update.
I actually found some info:
2520 - 1 Ethernet port, 2 serial ports, 1 ISDN BRI, 2 low speed serial
2505 - 8 port Ethernet hub, two serial ports

Since the 2505 has the built in hub, you don't need a transceiver. You can think of it as a 2501-PLUS. You can use the hub with a couple other 2500s and do OSPF DR/BDR elections. Or you can use it a a convenient place to plug in some other other 2500s if you want to use the 2505 as a TFTP server and upgrade the other 250ss.
Some people see the "8 Ethernet Ports" and assume that they get 8 Ethernet Interfaces to configure -- but they don't. The 2505 has the one Ethernet Interface you use can assign an IP and use for routing. Those 8 ports are just a common plain obsolete HUB.
The 2505 (and other HUB versions) is worth a few bucks extra over the price of a 2501 -- the cost savings on the Transceiver and the convenience factor of not needing a transceiver.:mike: Cisco Certifications -- Collect the Entire Set!
