I used the "Linux+ In Depth 2005" study guide with is by Prometric.
Distro wise- I used Fedora 7. I'd highly recommend Fedora during hands on.

In addition I suggest the Sybex Linux+ book. But both these books assume a basic understanding of Linux. If you have no knowledge of Linux I think it would be pretty hard to pass the exam just with those books.
I also suggest using some kind of virtualization product to play around with.

    Good Luck

So my instructor gives me 2 books :

    1- sysbex linux+ , third edition

Your best bet is to start with the Sybex book, then do the CBT Nuggets, get your hands dirty with some hands-on labs, and then cross-reference everything with the MCGraw-Hill book. The key to this exam is going to be doing everything the book(s) suggest at the end of each chapter. Get yourself a copy of Fedora to install on a spare PC or a virtual machine and make sure to get those scenarios and practice-labs done.

I knew nothing about Linux before studying I used the book I mentioned above and a Linux CBT, and Practice software to drill it in my brain.

I'd recommend using Transcender for your test-software. TestOut is also a good resource, as it includes training videos, simulators, and practice exams. Still, for stand-alone test-software, Transcender is the best.

The McGraw book is definately the better choice if you are new to Linux. Sybex is a great book, but it assumes a bit of basic knowledge

The TestOut software was very useful to me, I learned a lot from the labs and tutorials they offered. Definitely worth using.
