I've read here and elsewhere that the MS Press book for 70-270 is great to use as a guide but best as a supplemental source. Also the practice questions from the MS book closely match the exam questions more so than any other book/software. I have the Sybex book and have read that cover to cover, it's a great read and I do understand most of the subject matter. The question I have is will the MS book cover other material that is not in the Sybex book, or is it the other way around?

It's been so long again that I can't speak about the specific differences between the two. However, it's pretty much a given that there will be a slight amount of information that's different between the two. No one resource is going to provide you with everything you need. Just don't expect it to contain a wealth of new information; it's probably going to be little details here and there.
