Are there any good active Cisco IRC channels?

Slowhand Mod Posts: 5,161 ModI don't know about IRC channels, but I've got it on good authority that there are some killer forums on Cisco stuff. . .

Plazma Member Posts: 503Actually there is a #cisco channel on freenode which I hang out at but definatley having our own techexams.net irc network with various channels would be awesome!CCIE - COMPLETED!

The only thing you see most of the time there is people entering and leaving the channel. 90% of the time people never talk. Over 250 people in the channel and the most ive ever seen talk at once is maybe 15.
It would be decent to have an irc here, would be a nice place to hang outThere is no place like 127.0.0.1 -

seuss_ssues Member Posts: 629I for one would definately participate in an IRC based TE chatroom. However it also concerns me as well. My main concern is that TE is a place where people will often come and read several months worth of posts concerning the exam that they are interested in. If a majority of those conversations were to take place in an irc channel rather than on the forums then the usefulness of TE has dimished to some degree. Often times i will have some free time and just browse various TE forums and stumble across something new and exciting and if that conversation would have taken place within the IRC network there is great chance that i may have missed it.
So an IRC channel would allow for its active members to more closely know one another as well as possibly speed up the response time on some questions. Unfortunately there is always a possibility that it would hurt the depository of information that the website holds. Additionally we have to think of our beloved webmaster. I am definately not an authority on this subject but i am assuming that he does make some profit off of this website and I am certain that it would be near impossible to make any profit off of an IRC channel. -

Please don't! I don't know what I'd do with all my free time
