So I have passed mcdst ages ago (like 6 months) and finaly decided I am going to start towards this test.
I have 2 computers(techincaly I have like 5), I have server 2003 loaded on one and I have virtual PC (although not sure how to use it that well yet).
I am going to get the transcenders again for this test and maybe some book like mspress? Should this be enough you guys think? Does the mspress book come with lots of labs to describe how to do everything?

For the 290 I recommend a DC, a member server, and an optional XP workstation. That should suffice for this exam. The 291 I would toss in an extra DC. VMs through VPC should work just fine for you, plus the 2003 host. I haven't used Transcenders but lots of people seem to recommend them and I will give a recommendation for MS Press. The MS Press book is really good for labs. Have fun studying!
