Hi,

*** calling all the backup exec experts *** HELP!!!

Hi,

We had a server failure yesterday and have a wierd problem with backup exec 8.6. We have restored most of our data. It has been done in phases with mission critical data/apps going back on on a priority basis.

During somewhere in one of our later restores backup exec has lost our tapedrives. Its on a windows 2000 sp4. The tapes are ultrium 3's. The tape drives show up in device manager. Event logs show event ID 17 event source removable storage service.

Any thoughts please?

Thanks Alot.

Just curious, but why hasn't your company upgraded to a newer version of Backup Exec? 8.6 is going on 6-8 years old isn't it?

BackupExec 12 is out and BESR 8 is also out. If its a mission critical server consider BESR= Backup Exec System Recovery. Also recovers to disimiliar hardware and even has the ability to create into a vmware hard disk .vmdk
