Router on a stick

Hi guys,

Im creating some labs for this topic whilst reading the icnd2 book but when i have came to configure the encapsulation on the router the command is not there! Im using IOS 12.2 and im sure ive read on the cisco site it does support it (but i cant find the link now). Could anyone confirm this?

You need IP Plus at a minimum.

which router? 25xx series will not support dot1q.

Also make sure that the port is a Fastethernet port or it won't do trunking.

A 2600 will do router on a stick even without a FE port if you have IP Plus.

Yup, I had it working on a 2610 back when I was studying. I might still have the configuration saved somewhere if you're using the same platform and IOS.

i have 2 x 2612's and a 2610XM and it the option is not there on either of the models, I'll post a show version once i get back home later. Im positive both ios's are 12.2

@ alanjames - i cant even get the encapsulation subint command never mind choose which one i would like to use

As if it was not supported.

You need 12.2T or better and it needs to be IP Plus or better.
