amb1s1,
Questions:- Do you have at least a Category 5 UTP cable connected to the FastEthernet 0/31 port of the switch?
[list=1:5aeda29c6f] - If yes, is the other end of the Category 5 UTP cable connected to a FastEthernet NIC of a host that is powered on?
- Do you have at least a Category 5 UTP cable connected to the FastEthernet 0/31 port of the switch?

amb1s1 Member Posts: 408It is a bad port because when I plug the cable on another swithc with the same config, the interface is showing up/up.

amb1s1,
Since you configured that switch port as a vlan access port, that port should be connected to a host and not another switch. -

If you state that you've got a host connected to fastethernet port 0/31, then why does it say "line protocol is down (notconnected)?"
