I have a question, I was wondering if you're connecting a NIC to router.

What kind of cable would you use? I thought you would use a straight through cable but on one of my practice exams it said cross over. which one is correct?

any help would be great.

thanks

Live device to like device uses a crossover cable. A router and a PC are like devices. This should be covered in the book you're studying for CCENT or CCNA.

It's not unusual for that to confuse people, it's kind of the "exception to the rule", although not really.

Yea, I naturally assumed routers would be lumped in with hubs and switches. Nope. Routers and clients are like devices and hubs and switches are like devices. Crossover between like devices, straight-through otherwise.
