you mentioned about troubleshooting linux as computer technician, but none of linux related appears in your skills section; try to detail your linux experience (used distros, area, etc.)

I'll do that. Thanks of the input. Any more suggestions?

I thought the general rule was to list only back to your last 3 employers. I could be wrong on this...

It's funny how most people here list their education/certifications first. I always list my work experience first. Personal preference maybe.

    I always do..

    Contact Info
    Brief Goal
    Work History
    Education
    Certifications

Reasoning behind that, is if my resume is 2 pages it forces them to look at the second page to view my education.

Though, since I dont have a college degree yet I want to attract potential employers with my work related skillsets and not my education/certifications.

I have listed my last three employers, the one that has assistant network admin and computer tech.

Would it like better listed at assistant network admin/computer tech and condense what I did there for both jobs?

    Hi

You can call yourself what you want, there are several titles that basically mean the same

Also what I have found is companies prefer if you have worked in similar envorinment, example local authority, what difference it makes I dont know

As I have said on previous thread, your CV should be on a job website for companies to look at, your CV needs to contain all the words that pertain to your abilities and experiance as companies will do a word search on it as opose to reading 1000's

    Hope this helps

    Just what it says ;)

He bumped his thread back to the front page. I usually go with something along the lines of, "Does anyone else have any input?" It's slightly more subtle icon_cool.gif

\bump has been around since forums were invented. It can get pretty out of hand on an unmoderated board. I have seen posts with over 10 consequtive \bumps before now especially on gaming forums.

As for the number of jobs you put down, there is no magic number. However, don't leave unexplained gaps without being prepared to explain them.

I personally list any relevent job roles but the older they are, the less I write about them. For IT work experience I list all IT jobs I have done and they go back over 15 years now. The older ones, I just put the points that have a bearing on my current abilities.. For example....
    Helpdesk Operator 1993-1995
First line support covering terminal / PC support to various systems and services throughout a 8,500 staff organisation.

    • Developed exceptional end user liaison abilities which have, to this day, proven very useful in turning around potentially difficult situations into simple, friendly and productive fault resolutions.

I currently have a far more responsible and highly technical role but those few lines of information on my resume makes the potential employer understand where I came from and that I understand why I am there to do the job.

Yes my resume is 3 pages but no employer I have sent it too has ever complained. If it's interesting stuff, people will read it. If it reads like some sort of diary or the index section of a computer manual, they will chuck it in the bin.
