i did it!, i finally managed to get the tftp server working and receiving files, got my ios on my 3640 router updated to 12.4, now i'm not going to get to cocky, i still have to do SDM. think i will save that for a later day. thanks for all your help, you will be hearing from me again....:)

Don't forget that you can actually do a local install of SDM onto your PC.
