Transcender DHCP question

Situation:

You administer the DHCP servers on your company's network. You are using the New Scope Wizard to create a scope for a subnet that will contain 40 servers and 800 client computers. The servers will be assigned static IP addresses. The IP addresses within the 10.20.32.0/20 range are available for your company's use. To conserve IP addresses, you must subnet this range in order to use as few addresses for the new scope as possible. The scope should not contain any exclusion ranges.

They reckon that the start IP address should be 192.168.32.41. I think it should be 192.168.32.1. Didnt they say that the scope should not contain any exclusion ranges in the last line of the question? I know that the 40 servers will be assigned static addresses. Or is it that if the scope started from 192.168.32.1 there would IP address conflicts?

Someone please clear this one up for me.

So I'm assuming you know how to answer the question, you are just wondering why they are starting at .41 instead of .1?

You don't have to add an exclusion range in your scope to just start the scope at .41. Your DHCP pool would just start at .41 which doesn't mean you have to add an exclusion range. Anything below .41 would be used for static addresses so it would all work out.

Yeah, I was thinking on the same lines, Mishra. Thanks for clearing that up. I guess I was thinking a little too much :)
