Play AVI with a dvd player

I have some AVI files that i wold like to play on my DVD player, my question is how can i burn these files to a CD-R so that i can play them in any dvd player
The thread itself is weak, its the weave that makes cloth strong.

    Generally AVIs are encoded using DivX or Xvid and you will need a compatible player and you can just burn them as data. Otherwise you will need to convert them to mpeg for VCD or direct DVD conversion

    Well.... first check to see if the DVD player supports the divx codec, some do.

    If not, you are going to need to use a program to encode the files into VCD format (like Nero recode).
