Work paying for certs

I once worked in a place where they would send you on a week long course but barred you from taking the certification. One guy went ahead and he got a written warning. Rubbed salt into the wound that he failed the exam too.

They were under the misconception that if people get certs they leave when it is actually the other way around I think.

At this company it would 101% be that they would get certs and leave. No sane person would want to work here. I got myself my certs, so now I'm going to leave.
