Windows Explorer Glitch

I have about 3 users using Windows XP 64 Bit, here that are experiencing issue with "windows explorer" utilizing huge memory then freezing, I was just wondering if this is a known glitch that you might knowned and if there is a solution for this, I am currently trying to find out the root cause of this issue, so far the event viewer/logs, has not helped.

Do they work with media files like video by any chance? I've had issues before with Explorer trying to show that little preview window and then freaking out because of a bad codec or just generally being slow.

Is it reproducible when it happens or just a random sort of thing? Did you run a virus/spyware scan? I would check up on what tiersten suggested as well. Check and see what programs are currently resident as well and start minimizing what is starting up. Also make sure that the virus protection itself isn't causing these issues.

Yes they watch alot of youtube, and browse for alot of media pictures.

Try Process Explorer yet?

It can reveal exe's and what not running under Explorer that are hogging CPU time.

You did try Process Explorer, right? Not Task Manager...

Interesting this is an add-on, I need to install, no I haven't used this just the task manager, but I just DL the package, and will install it tomorrow.

It happens randomly, we have a sophos enterprise AV solution in place, I might need to run a 3rd party spyware, since this users might have downloaded infected porns lol...

Make sure you read advice more carefully next time. You might miss something valuable.

If they are using IE7, there is a known bug with the flash add-on. I would upgrade the flash add-on or disable it completely and see if the problem goes away.
