RRAS

Guys, my showdown with the beast is scheduled for the 3rd next month. I am trying to put as much armour as I can, so to say by taking as many Transcender and SelfTest tests as I can. I was wondering if I could get away with not studying RRAS and instead concentrate on the other areas which are sure to be tested more like the ilks of DNS and DHCP.
Everyone's test is different but I havent read people saying that they had more than a couple of questions on RRAS, some even had just the 1. But this could be a risk if there was a sim on RRAS. I think it was netadmin that got a zero on RRAS but still passed, altough barely
Your advice please.

somedudefromthenet Member Posts: 54 ■■□□□□□□□□I had questions that were soooo basic You should read some materials about it specially the one on the thick MS Press book but I personally dont think that you will need to burn precious braincells for it. Concentrate more on the DHCP and specially on the DNS side.
(edited for NDA (I forgot sorry ))
I forgot to mention, You Do need to study the RRAS although once you understood it as mentioned by other posts here you will be OK for the exam so no need to burn 10 days once you get it. If you really want to be fully proficient then you need to reschedule you exam to a later date.

Mishra, you make me nervous Alright, I'll study RRAS. I asked a few people at work a well and they also reckon I should have some knowledge so I can atleast make an educated guess. Buckling up to study RRAS then. -
astorrs Member Posts: 3,139 ■■■■■■□□□□I won't tell you how many questions I had on RRAS (since it's not allowed by the NDA) - but I will tell you they are in the question pool, as are simulations on RRAS.
Sorry for the bad news, but if its on the objectives you need to know it. I would suggest that you're better off pushing the test off a week or two and getting up to speed, even if you could pass the exam without understanding it, aren't you just cheating yourself out of the knowledge then? -

Good post, Andrew. I agree with that cheating thing. Even if I did pass it without any RRAS knowledge, I will run into trouble with the 293's RRAS section. So might as well get my head around this now. I will still gun for the 3rd but if I feel I am not adequately equipped to take on the test, I'll just push it back by a week or two, even though I have the second shot thingy in hand. Do not want to take the same test a second time, I find it very hard to make myself study for the same test again. -

bertieb Member Posts: 1,031 ■■■■■■□□□□As the others have said, study it. I'm doing it right now (my exam is on the 1st Sep) and I guess it's not so bad once you lab it out a bit. If you're anything like me, and you don't study it, you'll end up with 99% of the questions being on RRAS Plus as astorrs said don't **** yourself as the knowledge will prove necessary for the 293.

You can imagine my horror when I didn't get a single DNS or DHCP question until I was over a third of the way through the test.CERTS: VCDX #110 / VCAP-DCA #500 (v5 & 4) / VCAP-DCD #10(v5 & 4) / VCP 5 & 4 / EMCISA / MCSE 2003 / MCTS: Vista / CCNA / CCENT / Security+ / Network+ / Project+ / CIW Database Design Specialist, Professional, Associate

Essendon Member Posts: 4,546 ■■■■■■■■■■Thank you all for the advice and I am following it already. Went through the first 3 Nuggets last night and am going to go through the Blue Book today, dont have much to do anyways today. It doesnt seem all that difficult, although the control access thorugh remote policy is a bit convoluted but I am going to download that flowchart James was talking about from his website and I intend labbing it up till I understand Microsoft's apparantly beloved RRAS.
