School starts soon (or has already start for some..)
So, who's a freshman or who's graduating this year?
When do you go back & for what major?
I go back September 2nd. I recently transferred from New England Institute of Technology to Community College of Rhode Island to finish up my Associate degree in IT Support Specialist, then transferring to Rhode Island College to finish my Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems....
I'm doing 4 classes (full-time) and working full time (8am-5pm)
My schedule is:
Monday: Microsoft Windows Server 6pm - 10pm
Tuesday: Intro To Business 7-9:30pm
Wednesday: Computer Networking Software (Novell) 6pm-10pm
Saturday: Speech 9:25-11:25am
I don't want to go back

I'm going back for my MBA and just started. Will be a couple years before I finish. -
Forsaken_GA Member Posts: 4,024I carried a full load and worked full time while I was pursuing my Associates. It was the most stressful two years of my life, but it taught me proper time management.
Three years out.... I can honestly say I miss school. I'm missing it enough that I'm seriously considering applying to Georgia State, transferring my credits in, and pursuing my Bachelor's. Right now, I have a student's dream work schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun, 8pm to 8am).
Have to wait a few months to see whether or not I get to keep that schedule though. -
cbigbrick Member Posts: 284I'm thinking about going back to school part time next September 2009 for a degree in Finance and Accounting. I already have a degree in Engineering that I got in May of 1990.....cough, cough, cough.
But first I have to finish the MCSE 2K3, CISSP and CCNA.And in conclusion your point was.....???

cacharo Member Posts: 361I start next week and will be graduating with my 2 yr and a few Academic certs at the end of next summer. I will have my Computer Networking and Telecommunication A.S. degree as well as certs in Network Security and Support, Computer Help Desk Specialist, and Network Support and Administration.
I am taking 3 classes and will be wrapping up my MCSE:S next month.
I am continuing to work 4-10s 7-5 during the week. I also have infant twins at home who have helped me learn to live without sleep. I am also not particularly happy to be back I am anxious to finish this year up and move on to that undecided school to finish my Bachelor's.Treat people as if they were what they ought to be, and you help them become what they are capable of being. -

dynamik Banned Posts: 12,312 ■■■■■■■■■□I slacked off and didn't finish (or really even start yet) a distance learning course that's due mid-October, so I think I'm going to take this fall off and wrap that up. I'm only going to have one or two courses left for a psych degree. It doesn't affect anything I'm doing, so I'm not in a huge rush to finish it up. I'd like to get it done eventually and go on to a masters at some point though.

I've always had an interest in it and I like to switch careers every 10 years or so. I'm on my second career. First career was construction/geotechnical engineering. Up at 4:30AM and in bed by 9PM. It was a drag and I hated drive two hours sometimes to a job site. I learned alot but I felt I out grew it. I did learn how to deal with complete A$$HOLES, which always handy. And in conclusion your point was.....???

It's funny you should say that you like to switch careers, because where I'm from, once you do a BSc, everyone pretty much thinks you're stuck in that career for life, and changing is such a step backwards. Meanwhile, my italian friends tell me that anyone in their country who stays in one career for more than 15 years or so is an anomaly. I think I may be growing out of IT also, and I'm starting to think of a gradual switch to Banking and Finance. -

I am a systems analyst now and my goal is to use that MS to get an InfoSec job.
It is pretty difficult to go to school full time and also work full time, but it is possible.
I will start working on certs as soon as I finish with the MS. -

Same here, people thinks that after you get a Bachelor's you are stuck. I am trying to prove them wrong. I am a civil engineer and I dont feel it is my thing. I will be starting my MBA in November and I am currently working towards the CCNA. Right now I have a job that a CCNA cant compete against in terms of income, and that is why I think I will have get another qualifications before I get started, because it is really tough when you are not making a lot of money and then have to take a paycut.
In societies where there are huge social differences it is harder to change careers, because usually the difference in salary from somebody starting out vs. somebody wih some experience is quite big. We silly people not doing what we love because of something as trivial as money...
