Alternate Profile verses Hardware Profile

What is the difference between an Alternate Profile and an additional Hardware Profile? I'm confused on these two subjects....

Nevermind WEB....

I was getting concepts mixed up... I figured out the the Alternative configuration is a feature that enables mobile computers to have 2 different IP configurations... It's not a profile.... I was so confused, I didnt post the question right... Thanks anyways...
