How many monitors do you have? or should I say how many video cards, do you have in your system?

I have 2 and have for probably 8 years. I would say 2 monitors is the norm for most in IT these days (at least at the companies where I work). NOC/Service Desk people often have an additional monitor dedicated to just running the status page from the monitoring system and the phone system (ACD) queue/status.

I also have one video card currently with a 19inch dual monitor setup. I use this setup for running my VMWare labs on on screen and whatever else i am doing on the other.

I use two computers (desktop with two monitors and my laptop) with synergy running on them to get twice the computing power but half the mouse and keyboard. icon_wink.gif

Both PCs at home run dual monitors off of one card. My system here at work has two monitors off of 2 cards.

When I told my wife that I was going to make our home PC run off 2 monitors, she told me that it was pointless and a waste of money. I bet if I took one monitor away now she would probably have a fit.

On a somewhat related note, at work I occasionally have an external monitor connected to my laptop along with a second laptop doing some miscellaneous task. I swear, nearly every person here came by and asked why I needed three computers...

You should tell them that it's because you work 3 times harder than they do.

2 video cards (both 9800 GTX+), 1 22", 1 19", and 2 17" flat panels. Only use the 22" widescreen when gaming with SLi though.

2x 19" Dell Ultrasharp monitors on one 8800GT gfx card. Thinking about adding another card just to have 3 monitors. icon_smile.gif

Just my work laptop for work.

For home, I have 1 computer with 1 21" monitor. I'll soon have a second computer but will hook that up to my existing monitor and use a button on my monitor to switch between dvi and vga. I've debated getting a second monitor but just don't see the use for it.

    1 X 19" (square - this needs sorting out i know)

    2 X 8600 cards on sli

I have plans to buy a 22" very soon, i built a PC for a customer a few days ago and the price for a 22" widescreen was only £105 all in. icon_eek.gif

See you say that, and I thought the same. But I can't live without duel monitors at work or home. For study having vmware open on one monitor and browser opened on another for example is so very very handy. For my graphic work i do at home it's pretty much essential. At work, most useful example i can give is comparing network device configurations or reading ACL entries from spreadsheet on one monitor, while entering to notepad++ on other. It's honestly too useful to go back once you have. Of course this is my opinion and it may vary but hey!

I rock the 'dualies' at work, and a single 20"(16:9) monitor for my personal, and a 19" (4:3) for my lab. I eventually would like to get 2 wide screen monitors...that would be great!
