    1) He worked in an environment that mirrored the material he was studying for.
    2) He studies like a machine with a photographic memory. (*I heard that we have several people here on these forums that are like this.)

btw, congrats. Would you like to share with us your study methods in how you accomplished your MCSA?

My AAS: Networking degree included two classes that taught straight from the MSPress books (290 & 291), but that was in 2005/2006, so studying was mostly a review for me. Learning's always just been easy for me. I would never study in high school or college and still come away with an A or B.

My current job is analysis of a proprietary business system and I've automated a lot of the functions that my predesecor (sp?) spent a lot of their time on, so I'm able to read a lot at work (love that most books come included with an ebook on disc ;) ). I also administrate a small network part time (only 1 server and 8 workstations) that I built from scratch for a local company.

As for study materials, I used Skillsoft (or is it Skillport) CBTs, the MSPress Books for 290, 291, and 620, Self Test practice exams for 290, 291, Preplogic practice exam for 620, and Syngress, ExamCram2 for Security+.

congrats! it feels good to get it out of the way. Try not to lose momentum for 293. I lost a bit and I probably was pushed back 2 weeks because of it.

Yeah, I'm working on 293 now, but don't seem to have the same motivation, mostly because its just review (at least the chapters that I've been through so far). I'm also looking into starting WGU's BSIT-Network Design & Management program and since they pay for your certifications, I'm kind of stalling to see if/when I'll start my term. I'm currently waiting on my transcript analysis.

I got mine in either 2 weeks... or 9 years...applied my NT4 to the thing... the Vista exam was a lazy summer project too.. so I suppose you can say I took 5 mo. Now I got some steam built up though, plowing through for the MCSE.

Been working with Win2k3 though so I got some on the job for a few years. If you count 2k & NT I been at it for over a decade.
