in CCNA & CCENT
Hi,
I'd like to do a training in network and I've been advised to take the CCNA one.
I've got OK knowledge in LAN and I've worked a little with the network administrator of the place where I used to work. I'd basically like to take it further.
Or is there another option apart from the CCNA one?
Thanks

If its the later then grad yourself some self study books and equipment and begin to have fun Check the FAQ in the forum for equipment and book idea's etc
If you have no network experiance you can do the network+ which is an entry level knowledge exam from CompTIA.Xbox Live: Bring It On

laidbackfreak Member Posts: 991you could start with the Network + route, would give you a good absic understanding and then follow up with cisco if you feel you want to go that route...if I say something that can be taken one of two ways and one of them offends, I usually mean the other one :-)

I don't really have Network experience. I've worked in IT support but it was more software related and basic network issues.
And yes, it's the latter option as in I'll most likely pay for the training. A friend gave me his CCNA training book so I guess it's a start. -

yes its recognised in the industry as an entry cert....
will it help get a job.... as with all things depends on the company requirements and your experience.... but the same applies to the CCNA....if I say something that can be taken one of two ways and one of them offends, I usually mean the other one :-) -

The N+ is recognised but more so in the US than the UK. but i would not say its enough to get you a networking job. it would help towards gaining an entry level role imo.
The ccna is more recognised and valued but with you having no network experiance take it in small steps as its a steep mountain to climb but dont be put off by this! and like laidbackfreak says the ccna may not land you the job you want - as i have discovered.
Lastly if i were you i would not pay for the course then. thats a lot of money for a few days in a class and lets face it your never going to learn everything in 5 days so get plenty of books etc and start studying. CBT's are also a good addition for most people but not all.Xbox Live: Bring It On
