Just passed with 895/900 on second attempt. So relieved!!! I studied none stop since attending last weeks 3 1/2 day course. I think now in hindsight taking the exam on the final day was a mistake. Good luck to anyone taking the exam in the near future.

Congrats on the Sec+ pass!
I'd like to recommend you take a look at a IT Security Skills and Certificaiton Map developed by the Security Certified Program that may help educate you on a "recommended" path, depending on your long term interests. If they happen to be Security related, this is the right co. It's all they do and were just referenced in eWeek as the top, InfoSec Certification that "still matter". Not exactly sure of your skill set but, if you found Sec+ challenging, taking on a proprietary cert. is a big leap considering Sec+ is mostly theoretical knowledge. You'll need APPLIED KNOWLEDGE with extensive hands on lab exposure to pass any of the proprietary exams with ease.
My personal reccomendation would be to take a closer look at the Tactical Perimeter Defense materials and corresponding SCNS-Security Certified Network Specialist Cert. on the Security Certified Program site for more info. www.securitycertified.net
Here's the eWeek posting: http://www.channelinsider.com/c/a/News/5-IT-Certifications-that-Still-Matter/
Here's the link to the Security Certified Program Cert. Map: http://www.securitycertified.net/skills_map.htm
Best of luck! Brad -
motogpman Member Posts: 412Congrats on the pass! I don't remember the specific thread, but Keatron had a detailed discussion about his suggested path for Security paths. I thouroughly enjoyed his post and actually wrote the order down and keep it posted on my cube as a reference. You can do a search to find it.
Basically, it is this:
Sec+
MCSA:Sec
CEH
SSCP
CCNA
CCSP
CISSP
He describes why he views this and is highly respected on this forum, so it may be worth your while to tak a look see. Good luck in whatever you take next. I am working on the MCSA currently and then the CEH.-WIP- (70-294 and 297)
Once MCSE 2k3 completed:
WGU: BS in IT, Design/Management
Finish MCITP:EA, CCNA, PMP by end of 2012
After that, take a much needed vacation!!!!! -
tysonflaherty Member Posts: 4 ■□□□□□□□□□Thanks all for the advice, it all helps. Unfortunately the path you propose is not available in the UK at this moment in time.
Like I said I am going to get more experience and hands on now.
But again thanks for the advice. Anymore is certainly welcomed -

Many thanx ...you confirm me once again my desired future learning path -
rbutturini Member Posts: 123I have a question about that...It looked to me like you had to have one of three other certs before you could take the SSCP. Is that true?
Congratulations on the Pass by the way! what a great score! -

mikka07 Member Posts: 21 ■□□□□□□□□□Congratulations on your pass! I'm probably not going to be ready to sit the exam until the beginning of October, so hopefully the exam objectives will not change too terribly. Again, Congrats and Good Luck with your experience gaining!
