They are paying EXCELLENT money. You can live in southern Indiana which has a very low cost of living. And it is right up the ally of people here who have experience in small businesses.

Yep...I'm in the Midwest and that looks about the right salary. Cost of living is so cheap in the Midwest...especially Indiana!

How about me, am I allowed? :D It would be great for me since my family's in Michigan and my wife's psychotic mother is in Arizona.

The pay is so good/cost of living it would be worth the move.

I think Id have a real hard time selling my house about now :)
that, and I just put in a bird feeder.

Seriously though, the job does sound great and the pay looks wonderful; Im just not ready to look outside the state for a job. The wife and I both have our parents/friends living here, and she herself just got a new job. To be honest with you, I think sometimes how great it would be would be to move out of state, but we have just planted some roots here; so its going to have to take a lot more than a good job for me to leave.

I know Undomiel is open to moving though!

    Of course!

Do you have small business experience? You thinking about applying?

I bought my home for 115K and it is 2200 square feet. Easy to do on good money. :)

I applied as soon as I got home. :) Yeah a small business is what I currently work for. As long as they're 100% IT instead of making me do all this crazy AutoCAD work (I should have left that off the resume when I applied here!) then I absolutely love them already. icon_lol.gif

Sweet. New Albany isn't bad. It is still a small town. But it does have a middle and even upper class/rich areas. And you are right next to Louisville.

COL in indiana is apparently not that high. Try to find the same size house on either of the coasts for under 700k...

You know why? This is the city my family lives in (little bit of profanity - careful at work). I think that's a great overview of the Midwest in under 5 minutes.

Well living in the Midwest, but originally from the East Coast, I would say that you can definitely find a 3500 square foot home for about 350K. It all depends on location. Same with Indiana, in Carmel, you might be paying a million dollars for 3500 square feet, but square footage isn't the only factor...buidler quality, features, accents, landscape, acreage, options, neighborhood, etc., etc.

EDIT: here is a 4000 square foot home in Abingdon, Maryland, which is pretty close to Baltimore City.

location is indeed a huge factor. That type of house is easily $1-2M on the west coast (specifically the bay area)

Yep...and I could probably find a similar house about 10-20 minutes away from this one 1 million. Location is crazy! I just wanted to point out that you can find decent deals close to some of the big cities on both of the Coasts. You just won't be in walking distance, LOL.

At that salary I'd be crying. Perhaps some of you should have a look at what East/West Coast salaries are:

    Base Pay: $130,000 - $170,000 /Year
    Employee Type: Full-Time Employee
    Job Type: Information Technology
    Req'd Education: 4 Year Degree
    Req'd Experience: At least 3 year(s)

    NYC...

I wouldn't be moving to NYC for an IT career for anything less than 100k. NYC cost of living is horendus!

Agreed. Make 60k in D.C and you will have a pretty long drive into work from a nice place or a short drive from a ghetto.

Cost of living is very high if you want a nice place and a short commute.
