This has been a long journey. I started learning about Cisco a long, long time ago, however, I never took the test.
I took my first test just before the new 640-802 came out, and due to my lack of Cisco testing experience, I completely missed 5 of the sim questions.
I got a 961 on the test and in three weeks, I will be taking the ICND2.
I used CBT Nuggets, Sybex, Odom and real experience networking experience.
Also the best thing for my final review, was sitting down and doing a lot of subnetting using http://subnettingquestions.com/
I also recommend using FreeMind to make a nice map of all the material. http://freemind.sourceforge.net/
I been reading a lot of posts on this forums and thank you all for all the good info.

I got some 2501s, when I was in college in 2004. Ever since then, I set them up and play around with them. For the last 8 months, I have been working as a network administrator and now, I really want to start moving up in the IT ladder, so I am getting some certs!!!!!
I can say, having all the knowledge I have gained from studying Cisco, whether to get a certification or not, has made me a much better IT person. The troubleshooting that you learn with the Cisco curriculum, in my opinion, is essential to being a good IT professional. -
