Passed CCENT!

Megadeth4168Megadeth4168 Member Posts: 2,157
scored 970, the exam was easier than I thought, but I kept feeling paranoid about the time! In the end I still had around 30 minutes remaining, but the time factor is always in the back of your mind, unlike an MS exam.

Prepared using
Sybex CCENT book
Cisco Press books for old CCNA exam 640-811 and 640-821
McGraw Hill- CCIE Lab Study Guide (my father-in law let me use for some of the easier labs)
This site of course

and my lab

3x2600 series routers
1xCatalyst 3500 series switch
1x1710 router

dynamik... that is spooky! Hey, lets shoot for the same ICND2 score as well icon_lol.gif

I honestly felt ready for the exam about 1 month ago, but I decided that since my exam date was already booked, I would just leave it a lone and keep studying. To be fair, this isn't my first experience with Cisco.

I had a 4 semester class during my senior year of high school... But that was 1999/2000. I also have been working in an environment which gives me the opportunity to configure PIX firewalls and Cisco switches sometimes. Not often, but enough to have kept refreshed on some of the CLI.

It also doesn't hurt that my father in law has his CCIE written and has been studying for the lab. He also teaches a college networking course.

    Now thats awesome!
Unfortunately I live with mine and after he gets home from work he watches TV till he goes to bed.
    A+, MCP(270,290), CCNA 2008.
Working back on my CCNA and then possibly CCNP.

That is a great score and wicked fast. I past with an 896 with 25 minutes remaining. I'm not one to dwell on questions I don't know or can't figure out. No matter how much time you take on them you won't think up the right answer any quicker. That is what I learned from years of getting an A.S. and B.S. degree. The right answer will of course become clear to you four hours after the exam and when you are driving down the 405 freeway; that's if you are in Los Angeles or Orange County.

Truthfully, I had a lot more fun studying for this exam than I did for any of the MS exams. Mostly, it was the hands on with the routers that was more fun, the reading was about the same.

Since it was SO easy for you, why didnt you just take the 802 test?

Sounds like you could have aced it, and it would be more convenient, no?

I wanted to test the waters of a Cisco exam. The last time I took one was over 8 years ago (640-407) and I failed. Back then the test was far different. I knew going into this exam that the exam had changed quite a bit.

I also like the 2 test approach because I can break the objectives up and spend more time on them. Since I felt ready for the exam a month ago, I decided to read another book to further reinforce the material.

Work pays for my exams, and I'm not required to take the exams, so I'm working on these at my own pace. So, it feels convenient for me.
