Got the job!

I posted my resume a few days ago here for review, and am happy to say that I got the job! I'll be an Electronics Technician onboard our flagship oil rig.

My family and I could not be happier, I'll work half the year, and get a very large pay increase, triple of what I make now (since I'll work half the year, I like to see it as 6x the money, lol).

Looks like this site's been good luck for a lot of people getting new jobs!

Great Good luck. Keep us posted on how it goes. I have looked into those types of jobs before, but never took them seriously because I didn't know about the type of work they were doing.

I live on the rig that half of the year, but the official shifts are 12 hours during the day. Nothing compared to what I did on my ship in the Navy, I was up at all hours so I feel like I'm prepared.

Oooooh yes! That's the benefit of being the guy in charge of communications on the platform, I have to have internet access for... testing the circuits and such........

Going to be working with our network admins to see if we can get a PS3 through the firewall (as the rig is in the company network) so I can rip up my work buddies while i'm out there.

Thank you! Yes, they are - in all actuality, I'll get more time with them believe it or not, as the gf is going to be a teacher soon and we'll all have months during the summer off for family vacations.
