ICND1 Transcenders Practice Exam

famosbrownfamosbrown Member Posts: 637
Has anyone else used Transcender Practice exam for ICND1 (640-822)?

It seems pretty easy and I spotted one or two questions that were incorrect and sometimes explained either correct or incorrect in the explanations. New Horizons switched from Measure Up to Transcender and I'm not liking it so far. Whenever an exam had a simulation, Measure Up would have a few simulation style questions in their practice exam. Tanscenders is just drag and drop and multiple choice/answers.

I'm beginning to go through my ICND1 lab book now, then will book my exam when I feel I'm ready. I received my test voucher today. I also have a Skeletek 24U rack being delivered and I will be adding more equipment as the lab asks for it.

I think I remember seeing a post about that somewhere...

Thanks for the link!! I searched for it, and didn't see any posts regarding "Trancenders for ICND1"...maybe I didn't look far enough back when the dated list was returned.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought the same for the Transcenders. From your post, it looks like you actually received a simulation. I didn't get any. How was the practice exam compared to the CCENT test you took? I think the practice exam was pretty easy and for the most part includes memorization of commands, concepts, and definitions/descriptions.

phpBB's search is quirky. I usually use <search term> site:techexams.net with Google and often get much better results.

My practice exam contained two IOS sims. You may want to download your exam again and see if it has been updated. It's not a big deal either way. They just had you do some subnetting and some basic routing stuff. If you've been labbing this stuff, you've already seen it.

I think it helped in the end. It was good to beat some of the theory into my head. The best resource was the CCNA Command Reference book. I went through all the ICND1 topics, and that really helped solidify the commands in my memory. The book is laid out really well. It's not just a reference like a dictionary, it's split up into things like RIP, static routes, etc., and walks you through a complete configuration. I would highly recommend picking up that book.

Yeah...I'm usually fine with using the Search Function here on TE. I tried the search again with just Trancenders without ICND1 and the link you provided came up on the first page.

The Transcenders I'm using all online and doesn't have any IOS sims out of the 208 questions.

I may check out that book to have in my library long term, but I will see how I feel after going through the entire lab book and taking the exam the first time. I believe one of my co-workers have that book (green cover?), or something similiar. I remember the words "Command Reference".

Ah, you're just using the online ones. That's stupid though. I think they just use Flash anyway, so I don't know why they couldn't put those online as well.

Here's the book I was talking about: http://www.amazon.com/CCNA-Portable-Command-Guide-Self-Study/dp/1587201933/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1223231512&sr=8-1 I had the title a bit wrong, sorry.

Yeah, it's the online one. Measure UP was online as well and provided Sim's for the MS stuff, but oh well.

Thanks for the link to the book. I am going to pick that up for my ICND2 studies...or maybe before. So much going on!!! icon_eek.gif
