Slowhand Mod Posts: 5,161 ModThe quizzes on this site will give you an idea of what's on the actual exam, but they're not sufficient to really prepare you for the real thing. If you're getting 90% - 95% on these quizzes cold, meaning on the first try, then you're definitely ready. If not, then you might want to look into getting some better testing software, like Transcender, for example. That engine has a large enough test-bank that you're not going to sabotage yourself as you take practice exams by memorizing the answers, and the questions are designed to be much more like what you'll see on the real exams.
Of course, if you do nothing but take those practice tests, you'll still get false-positives because you'll begin to remember the answers, so don't over-use any practice exams. So make sure you've studied up on all the topics listed in the exam blueprint, and you're using the practice tests only to gauge your progress towards the end of your studying, as you're getting ready to sit for the CCNA exam(s).

Slowhand Mod Posts: 5,161 ModNot a problem. Have a peek at the CCNA FAQ on this site, there's lots of good stuff there to help you figure out the best study-methods for the CCNA exams. A couple of things I can definitely recommend are to get familiar with the Cisco Documentation CD/Website, and read ahead a little bit in other books to get a better grasp on the routing and switching topics you'll be tested on. I read a couple of chapters of Routing TCP/IP Volume I and Cisco LAN Switching before my CCNA exam, and it really helped. While a lot of information in the more advanced books is well beyond the exam, some chapters are relevant and give better information on various routing protocols, STP, VTP, etc. than the CCNA-prep books, alone, do.

jamesp1983 Member Posts: 2,475 ■■■■□□□□□□The practice tests on this site are very helpful for gauging your readiness. I'd still try Transcender."Check both the destination and return path when a route fails." "Switches create a network. Routers connect networks."

ssjtrunks11x Member Posts: 8 ■□□□□□□□□□The worst thing you can ever do for an exam is the same practice test over and over, you just memorize the answers and give yourself a false sense of security. If you do that then at the very least understand the explanations given for the correct answer in depth so you can at least apply that knowledge to similar questions on the exam. I would take the practice test on here, take the results, read a book, watch some videos, then take a different practice test and see what you get. The Boson test that comes with the Cisco press book is harder than the exam, if you can bang out an 85 on that the exam will be a breeze.

dynamik Banned Posts: 12,312 ■■■■■■■■■□It depends on how you do it. I go through mine until I can explain why each option is or isn't correct for each question. I agree that the practice exam loses all predictive value at that point, but I've always had a solid grasp on the material after going through that process.
