If this should be in the Lin+ forums I apologize, but I figured the thread would get noticed quicker here...

Well, you can choose what you want to install. They include a HUGE amount of apps and utilities.

Check out the live CDs if you just want to get up and running quickly:

It contains a large number of optional software packages. Windows just gives you Windows and a handful of utilities.

Download the Live CD if you want a smaller version.

Or you can download vmware player and download a virtual appliance of your choice:

I'm not sure if it'll make a difference for the Linux+, but CentOS is on 5.2.

Windows is the only OS that is bloated. Remember that next time you take 2 DVDs to install Mac OS with garage band and iDvd, etc etc. Or the next time you have to burn 4 ISOs to get linux on a system.

Dood, just dl a live cd version. Knoppix, Fedora, SuSe, Ubuntu, and a ton of other have a live cd that will fit on a single 700mb cd. Some like Damn Small Linux and Puppy go as low as 30 to 50 mb. Then you don't have to do a full install or muck up your HDD if you don't like to distro.

The thing about Linux is if you get the DVD you get like 5 windows managers, a TON of apps, 4 or so different kinds of servers you can install. I mean with that one DVD you can install a desktop, 4 separate server or server services, an office suite, a CD burning utility, etc etc.

And did i forget to mention its all free?
