It really is fairly easy once you "get it" and practice it for a bit.

Of course, I have yet to take the exam, so I suppose we'll see if it's really easy or not!

    Best of luck to you!

    I usually hang out on 224.0.0.10 (FF02::A) and 224.0.0.5 (FF02::5) when I'm in a non-proprietary mood.

Good luck! I'm assuming you're taking ICND1, or are you taking 640-802?

Well, I passed everyone! 851! Wish it were better, but I will take it anyway! Big improvements in every area. Here were the results the first time I took the exam:

Describe the operation of data networks: 54%
Implement a small switched network: 75%
Implement an IP addressing scheme and IP services to meet network requirements: 0%
Implement a small routed network: 68%
Explain and select the ppropriate administrative tasks required for a WLAN: 50%
Identify security threats to a network and describe general methods...: 100%
Implement and verify WAN links: 33%

    And this time:

Describe the operation of data networks: 54%
Implement a small switched network: 87%
Implement an IP addressing scheme and IP services to meet network requirements: 33% (gotta do better I know!)
Implement a small routed network: 93%
Explain and select the ppropriate administrative tasks required for a WLAN: 75%
Identify security threats to a network and describe general methods...: 100%
Implement and verify WAN links: 100%

Thanks for all the help and encouragement, this victory was because of everyone on the forum! Now I can write my children's book "How the Grinch Stole CCENT".

Of course there is good news -- a lot of the ICND1 stuff will make more sense as you study for ICND2 :D

Yeah I really gotta work on the subnetting, but I do feel a lot better with it! I got plenty of material for the ICND2 so should be fine, just have to work hard! Thanks again guys!

well done fella, a pass is a pass icon_smile.gif

subnetting will improve the more you practice....

Exactly what I was about to say, a pass is a pass, don't fret over the score or percentages.

    Congrats!!! :D

I suggest http://www.subnettingquestions.com/ for your subnetting practice. Do these daily, don't stop until you complete 5 of them correctly. You'll notice that your speed will improve over time. :D

    A side question...

Are the questions on subnettingquestions.com comparable to what you have to do on ICND1?

I can breeze past all of those questions with minimal effort now, so I'm just wondering how to gauge if I'm "ready".

I feel that they do prepare you for what you'll have to do. If your breezing past them then I believe you can feel confident that you are ready and will pass. I would suggest getting the ExamCram book. I brought both the CCNA and the CCENT books, but the CCNA has all the CCENT stuff in it. It was perfect because it went over what I knew and refreshed what I had learned. I still used the CBT Nuggets, Trainsignal, and Todd Lammle, but this just brought another aspect to it. Plus it was nice that the chapters were short and sweet.

I'm itching to get ICND2 done so that I can jump into CCNA: Security. Saw the book at Barnes and Noble today and had to restrain myself from buying it! Thanks again everyone!

Oh yeah and now I get to read through all of the ICND2 posts!
