General questions about the CCNP before making the jump

I'm considering studying for the CCNP. I am not a network engineer, I am a programmer, but the field where I work with is incredibly closely related to networking and if IOS/API ever comes to light having a CCNP would probably open some doors. Plus I like networking in general

Anyways, some questions before I decide if it's worth the time commitment:

1. How long do you have between each of the four sub-exams to pass another?

2. Once you have your CCNP, how hard is it to keep? i.e. is there a very easy 622- exam you can retake every three years (no intention of getting a CCIE) to keep the cert?

Passed ICND1 with ease. If the ICND:Odon/Boson practice exam relationship is the same for ICND2 as it was for ICND1, it's just a matter of taking the test and I should pass. Haven't had time to actually sit the exam because of how crowded weekend slots are here and my new work schedule.

I guess another way to phrase this question is "is it true that the CCNP is cake if you can pass the BSCI?"

A decent amount of study time is about 3 months per exam but Alot of people can do it in 1 1/2 or less if you work with the gear daily.
