You have MCSA too, or at least the qualifications for it. If you haven't done so yet, you should publish your A+/Network+ to Microsoft.

29 with 17 certs... 18 if you count MCP as a cert (which I don't)
    IT guy since 12/00

Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
    Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands...

I'm 27 with absolutely no certifications but plenty of study time invested. Have an associates in network security technology and just over a semester left towards my Bachelors in Technology Management. I've been studying to go through the Cisco track, unfortunately hour reductions at work as well as having an 18 month old and some expensive problems with vehicles and household appliances lately have really put a damper on the budget so I haven't been able to pay for any exams.

30 and 23, not counting individual mcp, but counting vendor specific.

Unfortunately, I was out of the cert game for a little while because of a new job, and many very intensive projects. I'm slowly getting back and i hope to tackle mcitp:EA in the next 2 months.

29yo and the number of certs does not matter as much as the quality of the technical aptitude that you've built.

Well I've definitely updated since I first posted in this thread. Now I'm at 7, or 10 if you count every single MCTS. All except the A+ earned last year. I don't think I'll ever hit a cert year like that again.

have been reading some posts here where guys says that they are 29 or 35+ and say that they r full of praises for the under 25 or 23 guys who have about 10 + certs

First of all kudos to all u certfied IT ppl ( no matter the age 15 or 50 )........

secondly u can get as many certs by using third rated prepartion materials ( u know wat i mean )but wat really counts is how much confident u r on the given subject ....

i have come across many guys in my little experience who have completed CCNP,MCSE but still draw a blank at basic configuration stuff in Cisco or Microsoft.........

Neverthless a certification is a vital tool to distinguish u from the competetion or give u a slight edge in a job interview...........

Well as for me 25 and 3 certs but hopefully goin to whip them this year wish me luck.......

I turned 24 on January 4th. I worked in tech support for a small ISP starting at age 18. It was a great job to have in college. I decided to work my way up in the company and felt certs would help. I got the CCNA and passed the BSCI+BCMSN composite when I was 22. I got laid off in April of 2008, a month after I finished the ISCW exam. in May I passed the ONT and finished the CCNP. Two weeks later I took/passed the QoS exam. Some time in August I got the CCDA. I passed the BGP/MPLS composite in December, completing the CCIP. I got the CCNA Security a few weeks ago and now I'm working on the CCDP ARCH exam. I've been passively studying for the CCIE R&S written for about six months and hope to sit it by June or so. The funny thing is that now I'm a security engineer for a security provider and do absolutely no routing and switching now. I just really like the technology so I keep studying it.

    CCNA Security | GSEC |GCFW | GCIH | GCIA

Damn, I feel semi-old, compared to some of you geeks. icon_lol.gif

I'm 26, going on 27, with all the certs you see to the left. I got the A+ back in 2004, the Security+ in 2005, then I moved on to the MCSA throughout 2006, and sat for the CCNA in 2007. Currently, I'm working on completing my MCSE, upgrading that to MCITP: Enterprise Administrator, and polishing off the remaining three classes towards two Associate's degrees in CIS before the end of 2009. (Those degrees would be with focuses on network administration and microcomputer programming, respectively.) After all of that fun jazz, I plan on returning to school full-time and passively study for the CCNP, CCIP, and eventually, CCIE, while I make my way through various math, physics, and other courses on my way towards a graduate degree in either computer science or electrical engineering, (whichever strikes my fancy).

So, basically, I'm working on a lucrative career in IT to have to fall back on in case this whole "school" thing doesn't work out. It's also nice to have an "after-school job" I can enjoy that also pays the bills, while I study. :D

Aw man, one more thing to remind me that I'm getting old. Argh. Just turned 27 a couple days ago. Where have all the good days gone?

Oh right. I wasted them getting silly certifications ;)

    From what I can remember....
technical certs: 16 / and 3 more expired?
tech sale fluff: 7 / and 6 more expired?

Looking to add a couple more this year, mostly because I'm bored and need something to learn.

At least 1 more JNCIA and 2 JNCISs, and maybe renew my expired ones. Of course, if it's ever released, I'll need to complete my set with a JNCIE-FW :)

I figure this will be a good year to add a pair of CCIEs; RS and SP are the goal. Hey, it's cold in Canada and I'm looking for any excuse for a San Jose or Sydney "vacation".

And, only because I figured out Alcatel will send me a plaque if I do another exam... well, one thing may lead to another and I like roadtrips, so I might upgrade my NRS1 to a NRS2 :)
