Can I use laptop as desktop monitor?

Well, my desktop monitor just got toasted and for the interim I wonder if I can use my laptop as the desktop monitor.
I connected desktop to laptop video port, but doesn't work. Not sure if it's possible.

120nm4n Member Posts: 116The video port on the laptop is for attaching another monitor. You won't be able to just plug in the cable to the laptop port, unfortunately. So short answer: no.
Long answer: The only way to use the laptop screen as a monitor for your desktop would be to tear it apart and wire up your own connector. Not worth it (especially if the laptop is still good). I've seen it done, but there's a lot of work involved.WIP: MCITP: EA

tiersten Member Posts: 4,505Technically possible. Not worth the effort. Easiest but lamest solution is to use a video capture card inside the laptop.
