Hi Guys...
Title says it all...
These are the resources I have been using over the past couple of months for the 291:
- CBT Nuggets - Very Good (very good for quick snippets of information)
- Test Out - Quite Good (different in they use a white board to explain different scenarios etc but find that CBT Nuggets delved that little bit deeper)
- MS Press Book - Very Good (although quite dry, but detailed)
I have been using Measureup for practice tests over the past couple of days and have been getting a range of scores from initially 60 % to to 84%.. up to 93% back to 80% 70's... then back up to 80's...!!!!
Spent all day today doing practice tests and I have to admit I seem to be polishing off the knowledge a bit better as it gives explanations as to why they are right/wrong..
But D-Day is coming.. Wednesday I will be taking this animal. I only have tonight (Monday) and all day Tuesday to get this perfected...
Just wondered how other's faired on the practice tests before going in. Did you take any? Did make sure you got over 90% consistently each time before doing the exam? 85%? Did you score low on the practice tests but still passed the main exam??
I have to do it Wednesday otherwise I would have to wait another month or so to take it and would like to crack on with 293 before Christmas. I also have the second shot too...
Thanks
Steve

NetAdmin2436 Member Posts: 1,076I like to be scoring over 90% on my practice exams before I feel confident enough to take the real exam. I've only ever used Preplogic and they have faired pretty well in comparison to the real questions. Transcender is another good one, but kind of expensive. I guess I haven't heard many good things about Measure Up, but then again I've never used it.
Anyways, Good luck!WIP: CCENT/CCNA (.....probably) -
layer_0 Member Posts: 3 ■■■□□□□□□□hello,
I passed this test on the Thursday and I also used MeasureUp for practise tests, how did you find it ? The measureup's are good to get you thinking at the right level for this exam but I found I guessed alot of the answers in the real test, even where I knew the subject quite well due to the lack of information in some of the questions.
next step: MCSE! apparently 293 it's just an extension to 291 with more concentration on security?
Good luck,

Congrats on your pass.
There's clustering/NLB, IPsec, PKI and basically builds off 291. It's a tough exam. Definitely don't rush it and do labs and have multiple study sources. Personally I think it's tougher than 291, but then again I'm biased because I've failed 293 twice now (and it just so happens to be my only 2 fails....so far anyways)WIP: CCENT/CCNA (.....probably) -
steve77uk Member Posts: 48 ■■■□□□□□□□I think the measureup's are quite good because they give you the reasoning behind your wrong answer or even your correct answer and why the others are incorrect...
I found that like I mentioned above, the answer explanations provide that polish to the end of your studying.
I did a few more last night and my score keeps going up but then again after a while the same questions come up. I have used them before and found some of the questions quite similar to the exam of 270/290 but then again there are only a number of ways you can do something with this n that etc so it is bound to be similar...
My test is booked for tomorrow but got the day of work just to do practice tests before tomorrow. I have emailed the centre to see if they can squeeze me in today as this is driving me nuts waiting!!!!!
Steve
291 has been difficult for me - thought it was suppose to be one of the harder ones! - 293 being even tougher? what have I got myself into!

What score did you feel like you were going to get when you ended the exam? -

well to be honest as I went through I was able to elimiate quite a few of the questions so kinda knew as I was going along as I would pass this mother!
However, did not believe it until the final screen - there was quite a long pause and then couldn't believe the score!
293 next.... want to get that one in by Xmas!
A+... done!
Network +... done!
270... done!
290... done!
291... finally after 4.5 years of putting it off... done!
That should make me MCSA!A+ | Network+ | MCSA 2003 | MCSE 2003 | MCSA: Messaging 2003 | VCP 410

Yep, congrats on the pass and the MCSA! Have you already published your A+/N+ to Microsoft? If not, you'll need to do that to have MCSA added to your MS transcript.CERTS: VCDX #110 / VCAP-DCA #500 (v5 & 4) / VCAP-DCD #10(v5 & 4) / VCP 5 & 4 / EMCISA / MCSE 2003 / MCTS: Vista / CCNA / CCENT / Security+ / Network+ / Project+ / CIW Database Design Specialist, Professional, Associate -
