today i go for my Cert...my firearms cert that is
Man I’ve been excited for this day, and it’s finally here, Firearms training course. Here in MA is a process to get your license, especially if you’re a green card holder like me. I will only be able to purchase rifle or shotgun, no pistols or fully automatic weapons. But I’m excited. I will probably start small game hunting or just having fun at a shooting range, whatever it is, it's a new experience.
Let me know if you have a license, if you own any firearm, or if your thinking of going for a license anytime in the near future.

nevolved Member Posts: 131Sounds like fun! I'd suggest a Ruger 10/22 for a first rifle. It will cost you about 150 dollars used, it's highly customizable, takes a beating, and is great to shoot. I've had one for a while and it's a lot of fun. I also have a 9mm Glock 19 for personal protection. Hopefully you can get a pistol some day, I find them very enjoyable to shoot at the range.

I'm 20. Going for my handgun certification when I'm 21 in March.
I have a Ruger 10/22. Sent the receiver back to Ruger. The internal is friggin painted! Sprayed gun cleaner and paint started peeling
I also have an SKS which is pretty awesome. Unfortunately due to California's gun laws, I must use the strip clips.
For a firearm, I'd probably get a Springfield xD -
kriscamaro68 Member Posts: 1,186 ■■■■■■■□□□Guns are awesome. I have my concealed weapons permit I have owned a kimber 1911, ruger mark 2, winchester defender 12ga, browning 22 lever action, and many others. Right now i currently have a sig 220 .45 elite in full stainless, a springfield emp 1911 9mm, and a M4 by rockriver arms. Shooting is so much fun and being able to protect myself is even better.

See avatar. Any questions?
I own 2 safes full of guns and am licensed to carry concealed in 28 states. Although I am by nature a 1911 fan, I admit that my most comfortable gun to carry on a regular basis is my little Glock 27 (9 round mags, 40 cal) with ghost trigger and tritium sights. Oh and my wife always has my back with her little 32 auto KelTek.All things are possible, only believe. -

nevolved Member Posts: 131sprky what do you think about the tritium sights? I haven't really hard much about them.

RTmarc Member Posts: 1,082 ■■■□□□□□□□Tritium sights are nice. Nearly complete visibility in all light levels. I use them on all of the guns I carry.

cbigbrick Member Posts: 284Just finished my CHP here in Virginia. Best thing I ever did. My carry gun will be H&K P2000 V3 9mm with JHP. Wonderful handgun. I had never shot a handgun until January of this year. I spent good money on training and resources. My instructor was a 22 yr retired LEO. Yes, it was expensive. I aslo joined a range to get in practice time. I never wanted to assume I knew what the law said, I wanted to know what the law said hence the training.
Good luck!!
Remember that there is no subsitution for safety.
Other than that...have fun!!And in conclusion your point was.....???
Don't get so upset...it's just ones and zeros. -

Check the Glock Site and get in touch with an ammorist. Or check GlockTalk.com. I was thinking about getting one of those G19. They are sweet. And in conclusion your point was.....???

kriscamaro68 Member Posts: 1,186 ■■■■■■■□□□I think my next gun is gonna be a springfield TRP 1911. I love 1911's they are the most comfortable guns I have ever shot but I have yet to find a 1911 thats more accurate then my sig 220 but I hope the TRP will change that. Tritum sights are awesome. I have them on my sig and springfield EMP. For those looking for a small concealed carry gun I would check out the springfield EMP. Its a very accurate gun and very comfortable to hold and extremely well made.

Yep, I agree, and $100 is about right, unless you want the Novak Low-mounts, which I highly recommend. They might run you closer to $150 with installation. All things are possible, only believe. -

I've got myself a DPMS Ar-15 and a savage 110 30-06 and i'm currently trying to get a pistol... unfortunately thats tough as i can only in private transactions. State law allows me to own them but federal law says i can't go to my dealer and buy one more year though!Fantastic. The project manager is inspired.

srcurrie Member Posts: 55 ■■□□□□□□□□I built a DPMS AR-15A2. It was fun. I also am a Civil War Reenactor and own an M1861 Springfield Rifle-Musket.
I also have a Ruger 10/22. Seems like everyone has one of those.
I do not own a pistol but would like an M1911A1.
In fact I would own several more (I like WWII and other historical pieces) except I decided to become an MCSE and study CTT+ too!!!!!!!!
