It looks like this crack is only for one of the keys used by WPA-TKIP, but I'm not sure if it's the base key or the "per packet" key. I would guess it's the base key; I'm not sure of what use it is to know that key if you still can't decrypt the packet's payload. I'll be interested to seeing the full report.

mamono Member Posts: 776 ■■□□□□□□□□There isn't much information given about it. For some reason when I read the article, I got the feeling that the claims might be a bit far fetched. Only time will tell when the data is presented at the conference. After that point, I'm sure that we'll hear more and how much of an impact it will make on the wireless community.

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,091 AdminMore has come out. It seems that only very small, specially-crafted packets are crackable.
It doesn't look like there'll be any WAP firmware updates because of this. I think they should have left this one in the oven a bit longer before putting it on the dinner table. -
