Taking ICND1 on Monday, November 17th. - Update: PASSED!

/usr/usr Member Posts: 1,768
If it kills me...I've been rescheduling for months just because I wanted to be ready enough. I've been quite occupied with work and stuff, so haven't had as much time as I would have liked.

Anyway, I feel ready and have for a while. I reviewed Odom's book last night and realized just how familiar I am with most of that material.

I always over prepare for exams...

I guess we'll find out Monday if I'm ready or not!

Hopefully the free retake is still in effect, just in case. icon_wink.gif

The free retake expired back Oct. 15, 2008.

I always had the issue you had (not knowing when im "ready"). One thing I do now is that when I feel like i want to "test" myself i write down everythin I know about a topic within a short period.. and i review it.. the act of physically writing it really helps me with my retention level.. hence why i take a lot o fnotes.
    CCIE - COMPLETED!

Good luck man, I am sure you'll pass. I don't think we ever truly know when we're ready, but I usually go by if I am tired of the material or bored by it this usually means I am ready. In studying for ICND2, Jeremy reviews the stuff from ICND1 and I was right with him the entire way. Made me kind of proud since at this point I don't do Cisco stuff at all beyond studying and sims.

Good luck, sounds like you'll do just fine.

I need to schedule my exam too, does Vue make you pay when you schedule? Or can you pay at the testing center? It's been so long since I took a test I can't remember.

Well, crap. Guess I'd better not fail, then!

As far as I know you've got to pay when you schedule the exam. I may be wrong, but I don't recall seeing an option to pay at the test center.

you'll do fine, once you're in that "Knowing all the material when looking at it" state it's test time!

I'm just going to brush up this week, then hit the Boson practice exams I got this weekend hard.

Review Monday morning before I go and I should be all set, then it's on to ICND2.

Good luck, if you prepared it should be a cakewalk. Out of the all the cert exams I've taken I think the CCENT was the easiest, but don't let that comment make you take it lightly.

Good luck to the others taking the exam today. I'm getting ready to head to the testing center now.

I'm really optimistic, but nervous because it's been so long since I've sat an exam.

I'll let you guys know in a few hours how it goes!

Passed with an 895. A little lower than I would have liked...but I'm really happy regardless.

Describing the operation of data networks - 72%

WTF? I knew that area like the back of my hand, but a few of the problems really threw me as I had trouble deciding what Cisco expected as a answer. Oh well, I guess.

The fact that I got 100% in IP Addressing and two other areas makes up for that. icon_wink.gif

    What I used to study:

Odom's Cisco Press ICND1 book - Primary study source. I read it cover to cover and reviewed EVERYTHING in it multiple times.

CBT Nuggets - Watched all the videos once and reviewed the subnetting ones.

subnettingquestions.com - Practiced questions until I could do them in my head for the most part.

Boson Exam Sim ICDN1 practice tests - Before I used these, I looked around for reviews on here but wasn't able to find any. For those who are curious, these practice tests were absolutely amazing at preparing me for the exam. They have the exact same style and feel as the real exam, and the material is in the same format. If you go through and understand all 180 questions available on the practice test, you will be well prepared for the exam. I already bought the ones for ICND2, also.

    Bring on ICND2!

Congrats /usr! Today must be the "CCENT day".

I passed with 970, and I am so happy now. :D

Identify security threats to a network and describe general methods to mitigate those threat 50% <- Lowest score of all the categories icon_rolleyes.gif

    What I used:
    Odom's Cisco Press ICND1 book
CBT Nuggets - the first 3 videos for ICND2 are pretty good to be used as a last minute review.
subnettingquestions.com - good for practising subnetting.
Boson Exam Sim ICDN1 practice tests - very good. Like other members mentioned before, it is harder than actual exam.

Time for ICND2. More study and labs. icon_twisted.gif

I'll be starting tonight, most likely.

I can't wait to start learning some new material!
