Failed First Attempt 698 Second Attempt PassedPassed

Well last week i failed my 290 with about 2 hours of study time with a 698. I decided to go over some things in the MS Press book and also purchased the Exam Cram book. Finished the Exam Cram book this morning and decided i learned what i failed on last time.

Got this thing booked for tomorrow at 2pm will let you guys know how i did.

Only 13 Hours to go. Just got home from work and its currently 1am eastern standard time. Going to cram for a few hours and then go to bed. Wake up cram for a few more hours and run some labs on the server downstairs.

Hopefully i can knock this one out tomorrow so i can move on to my last exam for my MCSA.

Getting a 698 is like a football game in overtime, and the other team wins by a field goal. I think you'll pass it this time. I admire your persistence. Let us know how you did. Good luck

Why are you going for an exam with only 2 hours of study?

no offence but thats stupid. even if you had loads of experiance i would read the book over at least once.

imo, take more time on learning the material properly. sounds like your trying to rush the exam just to scrap a pass and move on. You'll get little from your certs if thats how you go about them.

I guess someone else already answered that. Yes the first time i did go in with only two hours of study time to try and pass this cert. Since then i did read the entire Exam Cram Book for this cert and practiced some stuff downstairs on my server. Also did some labs from the ms press book. The reason why i went in and took it the first time is that i had two years of using server 2003 on my home network and just felt the objectives listed for the exam were not that hard.
As you can see i only missed a pass by maybe one question.

Not trying to rush anything here i just felt i was ready to pass the exam the first time. This time i feel even more prepared for it.

Only 5 hours to go. Just woke up got about 7 hours of sleep before my daughter woke me up.
Hitting the books for the next 4 hours and running over some things on the server again.

Wish a brother luck. Will post a pass or fail again.

Hopefully i will list a pass this time and not a fail.

I feel like my head is going to pop. Been cramming for the last 3 hours.

Only 2 and a half hours to go at this point.

Hopefully i can pass my exam today so i can move onto 291.

Well about to leave in 30 minutes. Feel like i got a really good grasp of the material and review the topics i failed on last time.

Well i took the exam again. Exam was way harder than last time i took it and i felt i got questions and topics that where not covered in the Exam Cram book to well.

Got a 740 on it this time.

THanks to the forum and members as always for the help in answering questions.

The technotes are always a great help for any exam here.

Finally on to the 291 and then CCENT exam

This is my second Microsoft Cert Besides the MCTS Vista Cert i took.

Do i get anything for passing this cert like a new certificate or anything.

Yes, you get a thumbs up.

As for a new certificate, nope. 290 only helps you get closer to getting your MCSA certificate.

hahahah nice. Was not sure if you got a MCP card or anything. I guess i will just have to slay the beast next to get that next certificate.

Don't forget to submit your A+ and Network+ to Microsoft so when you do pass 70-291, you'll have your MCSA.

Yeah i believe i put in about 9 hours of study time for the 290.
For the 291 i am going to take a few months of study time so i can review the 290 objectives and concepts so i can build and understand the concepts for 291.

Definately not going to rush the 291 at all.

I was actually thinking about putting the 291 on hold and taking my CCENT Exam.
Got a decent setup downstairs so i am thinking about getting my first cisco cert and then going back to the 291.

Got the following Cisco Gear not sure if i need anything else:

1x 2610 Router
1x 2620 Router
2x 2924 Switches

We have similar goals. I plan on getting 291 and the MCSA out of the way, hopefully this year, then CCENT, CCNA, then finish up MCSE. After CCENT I'll start applying for jobs.

I don't have any CISCO gear yet.

I should get on it but I don't know where to start. I'll probably end up doing most of the work on virtual stuff, at least at first, while I build my lab.

Yeah amp nothing wrong with doing it on packet tracer or boson. Many people pass their CCNA with just using these. I like the hands on stuff and have been working with my gear for a while.
