Anyone know of a good packet sniffer?
I'm trying to view how hard the network is getting hammered during certain times because some people complain of "slowness" when everything seems fine.
Does anyone know of a good packet sniffer program that is preferably free to use?

packet sniffer - wireshark & tcpdump
what may actually help you is an IDS system to analyze the traffic for attacks such as snort, and also i'd install cacti on a linux box and monitor the trouble areas. -

Cacti is definitely what you need. It will give you graphs on your bandwidth statistics during certain periods of time.Remington Forbes
