Christmas List !!!

lildeezullildeezul Member Posts: 404
What is everyone getting for themselves (or receiving ) for Christmas.
I just ordered the CCNP ISCW exam cert guide, and Internet Routing Architectures by Sam Halabi.

Of course i am going to start reading the ISCW guide, and the IRA by Sam Halabi for the CCIP. But i am ordering both versions of Routing TCP/IP by jeff doyle, and Wendell Odom's QOS book for Christmas.

What about everyone else? Who is buying what for Christmas ???

Seriously though i dont have a clue what im getting off my gf - she gets me suprises every year! she actually pulls it off well too.

apart from that i just want some clothes, 360 games, reading books (crime novels etc).

oo im getting an iphone (2g) off my parents. part from that im not really too fussed.

Im just thankful i am not working xmas day or new years eve (cos i could of). im going home (back to england) for xmas so im looking forward to seeing the friends and family and getting drunken_smilie.gif for 5 days running! haha.

Taking my girl on a "romantic" dinner cruise at sunset, got her tickets to see dane cook (with me, of course), and will probably get her an ipod or something. Our gifts to each other are usually a little less traditional then just wrapping stuff. This will be my first real Christmas in 4 yrs..looking forward to it.

As for me, I don't think I'm getting anything other then a DVD set from my bro, maybe a check or something..I don't live near any family, but its all good. My girl and her 3 yr old will keep me busy icon_wink.gif

Edit: If I pass BCMSN, my gift to myself will be buying a Cisco press book or two to get me rolling on QoS/ONT.

Going to be mostly a family get together Christmas for my family, most of my side of the family has been hit hard with rising costs and lack of employment so we are just getting gifts for our parents and something small for the little ones.

I'm sure that even though they shouldn't be spending it that my wife's and my parents will give us a good amount of money anyways and force us to take it. Not sure what I would do with x-mas cash if we got it this year. There's a lot of bills we could put it towards since my hours got cut this year, but it seems wrong to apply x-mas money towards bills rather than get yourself something you can enjoy icon_sad.gif

Should be good times anyways, the only x-mas gift I want for myself is an offer from a company I have my 3rd interview (technical interview) over the phone tomorrow and then a long 3-4 hour chunk of interviews in person if this one goes well!

Might get myself a new job for Christmas with a nice raise icon_wink.gif

I spend all my Christmas money on my kids. Me and my wife do not really get each other anything. We are much happier seeing the kids come down to a bunch of presents then getting anything for ourselves.

I was thinking about getting the kids a Wii this year. They are 5, 4 and 1 years old so the Wii would be pretty much for me if that counts.

EDIT: I almost forgot my mom got me a really expensive watch. She didn't tell me what kind yet but she said it was over $400 so it will be the most expensive present I have ever received.

Already got myself a new laptop last week as an early Xmas gift to me. Might have to top it off with a new router for a stocking stuffer. rest of the money goes toward gifts for the 2 yr old grandson out of state. Tells grandpa he wants a bike, lots of cars, and a "puter." think the last one is mom putting him up to it!

I've been eying a PS3. For some reason, none of the new releases are coming out on HD-DVD, so I need to look into a Blu-ray player. The Dark Knight release makes it that much more tempting. I'll have to see what (if anything) I get for a bonus and go from there.

Why are you guys all down on the cruise idea? It's not like it's cold in the Caribbean. I'm assuming it's not an Alaskan cruise...

I am not... Me personally, I think it would be neat to see the sunset while enjoying an exquisite meal with my date...

    1) We're in florida....

    2) The actual place we'll be having dinner on the ship is climate controlled. It will be a semi-chilly (to the tune of 55-60F at the time I'm guessing) walk to board the ship, but after that it should be quite nice. Got a bottle of Dom perignon waiting for us!

I did miss the dane cook reference on my first time around! Can't wait to see that guy live. Should be awesome.

All the Christmas focus is on my 11 month old son. I told all my family that if you can't afford gifts for me or my wife then just buy something for my son. Other than that, whatever I get I will be fine with. Money is tight with everyone so I'm not expecting or asking for much.

I'm in that exact same boat. My son turns 1 next week. I am hoping to get a new mattress. We will see how money goes.

after I take my N+ test tomorrow, then I'll decide whether I am getting a consolation gift or a celebratory gift for myself! :D

But seriously, the coffers are a bit empty this year due to a recent move, condo purchase, and lack of employment on my part, so the hubby & I are going to have to scale back on presents this year. We're buying gifts for our nieces & nephew, and if I get to baking early enough we'll send some cookies/granola/sweet goodies to the adult relatives on our list. As for ourselves, we're going to probably treat ourselves to tix to see "Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me" - we've been listening for years and figure it's about time to go see the show since we're in Chicago now.

If we can spare the cash, I'm going to get my husband one of those "valets" to set his clothes & misc stuffs on. Every night, he sets his stuff out for the next day, and he's been wanting a valet for years now. As for myself, not really sure what I want. If I get enrolled in school & get determinations on financial aid before year's end, then that's really the best gift I could ask for. Other than that, maybe a nice warm fuzzy sweater or a new video card or an extra wireless adapter so I can finally move a computer into the living room to be a DVR/home media center.

I got myself a new job that I start next monday so that is nice as well. That is christmas enough within itself.

Me and my wife makes a list of 10 things we want for Christmas and a couple of those are a Blu Ray player to replace my HD why couldn't HD win the battle. Mens UGG slippers so I don't wear flip flops in the winter, habit I got from living in Cali does anybody think mens UGG slippers are ****. Batman or Wanted in Blu Ray for my new player. She got kinda pissed off when on black friday at best buy I was going to buy a Blu Ray player because I am impatient. I think I did put a cisco book in the list. For her she wants a GPS, a wii fit, of course jewelry, purse, clothes. Also stocking stuffers we get each other such as itunes gift card, perfume, etc.

For starters, I built myself a Core 2 system for under $400, all inclusive. Everything was discounted for black Friday on Newegg. Expecting to get the parts today. It will be replacing an ancient AMD 1800+ that sits in my basement. Oh, and I need a replacement APC UPS battery but I refuse to pay $30 to ship it.

I've got some school books to buy, which can probably wait til next month.

Gotta buy clothes soon. I've been showing up to work looking ragged.

Otherwise, I'm hoping for a 22" LCD (two would be great)!

I got myself an Acer Aspire One 8.9" Mini Laptop (1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1.0 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home) White. I hate traveling with a laptop, and sometimes my Palm TX isn't enough.

And I got 2 stacks of Books -- all computer/networking books and most are certification related. :D

And I'll probably toss in a few Certification Exams for December/January.

The house cats, barn cats, and feral cats will get sardines and some cans of Tuna for Cats from Trader Joes. I guess I'll get a backup Prime Rib for the cats that don't like Tuna.

Since the neighborhood dogs get to run free between several properties here and even I buy the large boxes of large dog Milk Bones and get small dog biscuits in the 5 pound bulk bags -- everyday is Christmas for them. :D
