How does that book hold up considering the newly revised A+ exams?

from my understanding its still current supposedly the 2k6 objectives are the current topics and this covers all of those

Yes, the A-I-O covers all your exam prep, however, you should typically seek out 2-3 sources and I'd recommend the Sybex book as well.
