Buy a Acer netbook for 100 AND buy AT&T data plan for 60.00/month. Anyone really think this is a good deal? I dont. Details below:

Deal is terrible unless you were already going to get a data card + plan.

I can't believe Radioshack is still in business. Every item in their store has a 300% mark up. Is netbook kinda like a high end speak N spell? For $800 you can get a 64 bit (vista premium) 4gig mem , 250 hard drive, dual proc laptop. This is $1500+ total. Not a good deal at all!

A netbook is mainly for browsing the web and running basic productivity apps like Office. The advantages over a regular laptop is that they're still proper x86 PCs whilst also being small & light with a decent battery life.

It is only expensive because of the bundled wireless data plan. The Acer Aspire One is around $300 by itself which is quite a bit cheaper than your laptop.

Is radio shack still in business? I stopped going there when they wanted $15 for a stretch of CAT5 about 3-4 years ago.

They're a great place to go when you need some random electrical pieces that hardware stores don't stock, and the staff (at least at the one near me) is quite knowledgeable. I have no idea how that keeps them in business though icon_lol.gif

I remember going to Radio Shack not too long ago (since it's close to my work it's good for quick pick ups) and they wanted $40 + tax for a 7ft USB cable.

    Check this out...

    Amazing isn't it?

Yea, a lot of places like Best Buy, etc. are like that. "Here's a really cheap printer/scanner/camera/whatever. Oh, it doesn't come with a USB cable though..."

It's funny, I the cheapest USB cables I've found at retail were actually at Home Depot.
